Anushka Sharma. was born to an army based family in Bangalore. Her father, Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma, is an military officer and her mother Ashima Sharma is a housewife. Anuskha fundamentally belongs from uttrakhand, she is of garhwali origin. She has an senior brother named Karnesh, who was a state-level cricketer and is now in the Merchant Navy.
She studied in Army School and graduated with specialization in arts from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.
Sharma says she initially wanted to make it big in the modeling world but had no strong aspirations for movies. She started her modeling profession at the Lakme Fashion Week as a model for Wendell Rodricks Les Vamps Exhibition and was picked to be Rodricks’s finale model at the Spring Summer ’07 Collection. Since then she has done campaigns for Silk & Shine, Whisper, Nathella Jewelry and Fiat Palio.
She has finished filming for another Yash Raj Film, Badmaash Company, with Shahid Kapoor (and directed by Parmeet Sethi) and started shooting for her initial venture outside of Yash Raj with Nikhil Advani and Akshay Kumar in Patiala House in December 2009. Patiala House is scheduled to be released near Diwali 2010. She has also started filming for her third Yash Raj Film, directed by Maneesh Sharma and costarring debutant Ranveer Singh.
Her first acting role was in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi opposite Shahrukh Khan. Anushka Sharma had played the female lead role in her carrier debut film ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. The film was a huge success and her performance was appreciated. Movie critic Taran Adarsh said,”Anushka looks the character and surprises you with a confident performance. It’s no lesser achievement to share screen space with an actor of the calibre of SRK and Anushka manages it extremely well from start to end.”

Anushka Sharma also appeared in her third Yash Raj Film, Band Baaja Baaraat, directed by Maneesh Sharma and co-starring debutant Ranveer Singh. Band Baaja Baaraat was released on December 10, 2010. Band Baaja Baaraat became a critical and commercial success, with Singh’s portrayal of Bittoo being lauded by critics. He went on to win the Best Male Debut trophy at the 56th Filmfare Awards.

Anushka Sharma received Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards in 2009 for her debut film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Also for the best actress in a leading role in 2011 for the film Band Baaja Baaraat.
The media reported that according to sources, both Anushka Sharma and Shahid Kapoor seemed to jell very well together during the shooting of the movie. There was buzz about the fact that the two seemed to be in constant touch via long telephone calls and text messages.

The two did not confirm the rumors but stuck to the line that they were just good friends. Shahid Kapoor soon went back to his on-off relationship with Priyanaka Chopra and Anushka Sharma too moved on.
Anushka Sharma is now acknowledged by critics and movie lovers as being one of the more talented newcomers to join the Bollywood brigade. However, she is also much in the news for her so-called liaisons with her co-stars.
Anushka did her second movie Badmash Company (2010) with Shahid Kapoor. The movie was an average performer at the box office. However, the cordial ties between the two co-stars caught the eye of the press. It was rumored that there was a romance brewing between them during the making and the promotion of this Yash Raj movie.
