Rihanna - Talk That Talk (Review)

If you haven't already heard the RiRi album, check it here ->Rihanna - Talk That Talk! <-! But assuming you have, then you will obviously have an opinion on it.  Mine's below!Rihanna's sixth album, "Talk That Talk" is a collections of song about sex and love.  These are amazing songs, but the album as a whole just lacks the poppy dance hits she is known for.  I LOVE the album, but there isn't enough edge, or enough pop to really define itself.  But ITS STILL GREAT!  It's quite the conundrum!
The album starts with the happiest and most breezy song, "You Da One", also the second single.  This song is such a pick me up, and the dubstep breakdown makes the song have a bit of an unpredictable edge (even though Britney beat her to it).  Then there is a string of amazing club hits, the unmistakably single ready "Where Have You Been", with a to die for bridge, and the already a hit, first single, "We Found Love"!
Then there is a disappointment, "Talk That Talk" ft. Jay-Z.  The bridge is fire.  The rest sounds like a horribly flat and dumbed down version of "Rude Boy".  It's mildly catchy, but the rap verse seems uninspired and the rest just seems reused.  Unfortunately "Roc Me Out" also falls in this boat.  Even though it's a great song, and could be a hit single, it still sounds just a bit too reminiscent of "Rude Boy".
But by far the moment on the album that got me riled up is the unnecessary cut out 1:18 into "Birthday Cake".  I was having the highest expectation for this song, and it could have easily lived up to it if it wasn't cut off, mid-line, forced into an interlude!  Did she just not have time to finish?
But the rest of the album really picks up the slack.  "Drunk on Love" is a powerful song showing off her range, along with the sorrowful bonus track, "Fool in Love".  "Farewell" has to be the highlight ballad on the album though, truly being different with a sweet and honest message, and an irresistible melody!
Then there are the sex songs.  "Watch 'n Learn" is an island influenced song with some funny lyrics such as, "Just because I can't kiss back/doesn't mean you can't kiss that"!  Punny! Then, "Cockiness (I Love It)" brings the real punch, chanting "I like it when you eat it" for at least a minute of the song!  The Bangladesh beat is banging though, so it makes the song tongue in cheek fun!
If only "Red Lipstick" was the inspiration for the whole album.  Just with better choruses.  It goes HARD!  It's the darkest, most aggressively, demandingly, sexy song on the album (deluxe version only) and has a great amount of dubstep thrown in.  It's a true unique banger!  My personal favorite.
The album is a great effort with amazingly catchy songs. LOUD was disjointed, yet cohesive, and Talk That Talk reads the same way!
The music is undeniably great!  Here's to another year of hit singles, hot remixes, and hopefully another great tour!  See you again next November, Rihanna!  (Album 7 should be out then if she keeps up her pattern).

Songs to Check Out: "Where Have You Been", "You Da One", "Cockiness", "Red Lipstick", "Farewell"
